In the early 1970s, Geraldo Rivera, then an investigative reporter, uncovered horrifying conditions at Staten Island`s Willowbrook State School. The mentally ill children in its keep were found in filth, often left uncared for and unsupervised, and suffering from rampant sexual abuse by the school`s staff. UNFORGOTTEN, filmed 25 years after Rivera`s initial, harrowing report, revisits a handful of the institute`s inhabitants, and examines the effects of the brutal state school on their development as adults.
